ACCF BOARD UPDATED ON SCHEME’S PROGRESS

The Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF) held its third Board meeting for the year via Zoom on Wednesday, 28th July 2021. As part of Management’s update, the Board was advised that the Commission is continuing to assist the victims of motor vehicle, employment and school accidents thanks to the successful activation of its Business Continuity Plan. Notwithstanding the current challenges as a result of COVID-19, there has been no disruption to the services offered by ACCF.

The Board was also updated of the announcement in the 2021/2022 budget of the complete exemption of the annual Motor Vehicle Accident Levy for the period commencing on and from 1st August 2021 to 31st July 2022. This is in recognition of the severe impacts of COVID-19 on Fiji’s economy and on families in Fiji. The announcement provides relief to motor vehicle owners for a period of one year as the nation copes with the significant impacts of COVID-19. The owner of a motor vehicle is, upon the registration or renewal of registration of the motor vehicle with the Authority, exempted from payment of the annual Motor Vehicle Accident Levy. The exemption was unanimously supported by the Board.
