Establishment of ACCF

The ACCF was established by the Fijian Government through the introduction of the  Accident Compensation Act 2017 to pay compensation to Fijians as of 1 January 2018 who suffer personal injury or death as a result of an accident in Fiji.

From 1 January 2019, the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF) will provide compensation for injuries and deaths as a result of an accident arising out of and in the course of employment, and accidents occurring on any school premises.

Function of ACCF

The Act provides for a compensation scheme through which victims of accidents can apply for compensation without having to prove fault or negligence. Coverage of the no-fault scheme is broader than the previous law, as it extends beyond third parties. Any personal injury or death suffered by any person as a result of an accident in Fiji will be compensated for, subject to meeting the Act’s requirements.

The no-fault basis of compensation will also extend to  injuries and deaths as a result of an accident arising out of and in the course of employment, and accidents occurring on any school premises from 1 January 2019.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide excellent support to Fijians who are victims of accidents. The Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF) will do this by paying compensation in accordance with the applicable legislation and regulations, and taking an approach which is victim-focused.
