Update on Applications and Compensation Payments.
 
The Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF) held its final Board meeting for the year on Wednesday, 09th December 2020. The continued efficient management of the scheme by the ACCF team with the support of the ACCF Board and Government was duly noted.
The Board noted the following statistics:
  • The ACCF has paid a total of $15.5 million in compensation to victims of accidents since January 2018.
  • This total sum paid is made up as follows:
Motor Vehicle Accidents$13,164,500.00
Employment Accidents$2,220,000.00
School Accidents$141,000.00
  • To date ACCF has received 2,307 applications as follows:

Recently the following payments of compensation were made to victims of motor vehicle, employment and school accidents:
Type of Accident Facts Nature of Injuries Compensation
Motor Vehicle The injured was a passenger in a motor vehicle which collided with another motor vehicle. Multiple injuries, fractures and bedridden. $132,000.00
Motor Vehicle The injured was hit by a motor vehicle. Amputation and severe scarring $115,500.00
Motor Vehicle The injured was a pedestrian and was crossing the road when he was hit by a motor vehicle Severe traumatic brain injury and facial bone fractures $97,500.00
Motor Vehicle The injured was a pedestrian and was crossing the road when she was hit by a motor vehicle Multiple arm and leg fractures $70,500.00
Motor Vehicle The injured was a pedestrian who was hit by a motor vehicle. Multiple rib fractures, right shoulder fracture, left leg fracture. $58,500.00
Motor Vehicle The injured was a passenger in a motor vehicle which lost control and hit an EFL post Hip dislocation, closed reduction of hip. $51,000.00
Motor Vehicle The injured was trying to board a bus, however, the driver pulled away suddenly causing him to fall out of the bus and his right leg was crushed by the rear tyre of the bus. Right ankle fractured $31,500.00
Motor Vehicle A worker was painting a wall while standing on scaffolding when he fell, landing on his right shoulder and a metal plank fell on his right jaw. Fractured neck and loss of hearing in right ear $34, 500.00
Employment A worker was electrocuted and fell while standing on a 200 litre oil drum close to live wire. Right shoulder fracture with reduced range of motion $27, 000.00
Employment A worker’s right thumb got stuck in the guards of a loader machine. Amputation of right thumb $18, 000.00
Employment A worker was loading cargo at a height when he fell. Fracture of right shoulder $12, 000.00
 
 
 
School Pupil was playing soccer when another pupil kicked his lower leg from behind causing him to fall. Fracture of the leg $12, 000.00
School Pupil was pushed backwards by another pupil on the staircase. Twisted right ankle and sprained knee $15, 000.00
