ACCF Undertakes Awareness Session with Schools Impacted by the Mokani Bus Accident

The Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF) ran an awareness workshop at Cautata District Primary School on 02nd March 2021. Present at the session were teachers, members of the school committee (including Head Teacher from Ratu Ravuama Memorial School) and family members of the victims of the Mokani bus accident which occurred on 16th February 2021.

The session covered the rights, entitlements and obligations under the Accident Compensation Act 2017.

Also present at the session were victims and family members of victims of the Mokani bus accident and Mr Akbar discussed with them in detail how ACCF can assist them. Mr Akbar also spoke to family members of some of the pupils who had been injured and explained the process regarding applying for and determining any entitlement to compensation.

The school committee expressed its gratitude to Mr Akbar for reaching out to the school and helping them understand how the Accident Compensation Scheme works and how ACCF is helping the victims of the Mokani bus accident. In particular, the school thanked ACCF for coming out to them and saving victims and family members the inconvenience of travelling far to receive assistance.

ACCF carries out awareness sessions with all interested groups such as employers, workers, schools and any other entity. If you would like ACCF to deliver a presentation to your team, you may contact ACCF on 8923770 or send an email to info@accf.com.fj.
