ACCF UNDERTAKES TALANOA SESSION AT NAMOLI VILLAGE
The Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF) ran a talanoa session at Namoli Village, Lautoka on 10th August 2023. Present at the session were victims and family members of the Delana Primary School Bus accident which occurred on Wednesday 21st June 2023 at Banaras, Lautoka, which was carrying students from Delana Primary School. Also present were members of the wider community.
The session covered the rights, entitlements and obligations under the Accident Compensation Act 2017.

The ACCF team members discussed in detail how ACCF can assist them, and explained to parents and guardians present of the pupils who had been seriously injured the process regarding applying for and determining any entitlement to compensation. The team confirmed that all applications will be processed by ACCF in accordance with the Accident Compensation Act 2017 and regulations, and these are all individual applications which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

The Turaga Ni Koro of Namoli Village, Mr Manoa Ravouvou, Liuliu Ni Soqosoqo Ni Marama e Namoli, Ms Sala Marama and parents expressed their gratitude to ACCF team members for reaching out and informing them how the Accident Compensation Scheme works, and how ACCF is helping the victims of the Delana Primary School bus accident. In particular, the parents thanked ACCF for coming out to them and saving them the inconvenience of travelling far to receive assistance. The ACCF team assured parents and legal guardians that they should not hesitate to contact ACCF regarding the application process. ACCF acknowledges Mr Ravouvou and Ms Marama for their assistance with arranging the talanoa session.
                                                                                                   
Since 2018 ACCF has received 145 applications involving bus accidents. All road users are requested to share the roads safely and responsibly as we have already lost 59 lives on our roads this year compared to 24 this time last year.
